As an accordionist I'm sure you'd prefer to play rather than spend time staring at the insides of your box. Notes that don't sound true, keys that click or stick and registers that jam can be very frustrating. So if you need some help to get your instrument back to health - just get in touch.
Repairs
While accordions are complex, hand-built, instruments. They can nearly always be repaired.
With over 300 reeds and a hundreds of individual parts its takes some care, attention and experience - but many problems can be isolated to a few broken elements.
Tuning
The character of an instrument is largely defined by the quality of its reeds and their tuning.
Tuning an instrument is a subtle combination of art and science to provide a consistent voice whether double octave, swing or musette.
Restoration
Age and use will often render a basically good instrument unplayable. Older, high quality, instruments often had reeds that are difficult to replace so a mechanical restoration can let you rediscover a fine instrument.
Recent Work
A few examples of some recent work.
The Buzzing Reed
A subtle but annoying buzz when the reed was played quietly. Removed by smoothing the edge of the reed.
Disappearing Pads
A disconnected reed pad. Recovered, re-attached and rebuilt.
Cracked Reed
A cracked basson reed that could not be tuned. Replaced, rewaxed, retuned.
Bass Pad Dislodged
The bass side was removed and rebuilt to replace a dislodged bass pad.
